Advises the council on matters related to construction and job creation.
Hear and decide appeals of orders, decisions, or determinations made by the building official relating to the application and interpretation of the Electrical Code.
Reviews and analyzes all policies and procedures of the electric utility.
Advises the City Council on the establishment and operation of the Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center. Cooperates with any civic and volunteer group organized to foster, promote, and sponsor the Mexican American Cultural Center.
Acts in an advisory capacity on all projects and programs which affect the quality of life for the citizens of Austin and makes recommendations for standards and recommend and initiate specific studies.

The Flood Mitigation Task Force (FMTF) is created to gather information and develop recommendations related to citywide and area flooding and its impacts to property, public safety, and City finances, with an emphasis on flood mitigation solutions.
