Homicide Investigation at 12435 Dessau Road

Suspect (Arrested): Drevon Slaughter, Black male, 17 years old

Suspect (Arrested): Chance Young, Black male, 19 years old

On Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at approximately 6:49 p.m., Austin Police (APD) officers responded to a Shoot/Stab Hotshot call at the Nova North Apartments located at 12435 Dessau Rd. Multiple callers reported someone had been shot. When officers arrived, they discovered a victim with an apparent gunshot wound. APD officers, with assistance from Austin Fire (AFD) and Austin Travis County Emergency Medical Services (ATCEMS), provided immediate medical assistance to the victim, later identified as Tyrell Robinson. Unfortunately, Robinson was pronounced deceased at 7:13 p.m.

Homicide detectives and crime scene specialists responded to the scene. Several witnesses reported hearing gunshots and subsequently observed the victim on the ground. Witnesses also provided descriptions of an individual they believed to be the shooter, along with the direction in which he fled.

A short time later, officers located an individual matching the provided description nearby. This person was identified as Chance Young, a 19-year-old man who was detained and arrested on related charges.

As the investigation continued, three juveniles and an additional male were identified as being involved in the incident. The adult male was identified as Drevon Slaughter, a 17-year-old. Slaughter was also arrested for a related offense. Charges concerning the three juveniles are currently pending as the investigation continues.
