This is a summary of all divisions within Austin Transportation and Public Works (TPW).
Land Development Engineering reviews development plans for constructability and compliance with right-of-way codes. We also continue to assist the public in obtaining rights to use the City's right-of-way and easements.
The Office of Special Events manages right‑of‑way use for special events and filming, including streets, sidewalks, parking, and alleys. The division issues permits, assigns case managers, reviews traffic control plans, and supports mobility.
Parking Enterprise manages on-street parking, parking meters, parking and valet enforcement, and specialized zones such as commercial delivery, residential parking permits, car-share parking and more. The City of Austin does not manage private lots.
The Right-of-Way (ROW) Management division oversees many day-to-day activities in the ROW. ROW is the public-owned land, including streets, sidewalks, and the area behind the curb.
Shared Mobility offers transportation devices for short-term rental from the public right-of-way. In Austin, there are different types of shared mobility: shared micromobility and shared vehicles.
Composed of professional and technically skilled staff, Street and Bridge Operations manages and maintains public right-of-way infrastructure, including streets, bridges, sidewalks, guardrails, trees and vegetation.
The Transportation Development Services division provides review services to developers/applicants and their consultants on all transportation aspects associated with a proposed development or redevelopment.
