Handle a civil parking citation

If you receive a citation for a civil parking violation, you can look up the case details, pay associated fines, fees, and court costs, or request a court hearing online. You must contact Austin Municipal Court to resolve the citation by the date listed on the citation, or you will be found liable by law, and the fine increases. Three or more unresolved civil parking citations can result in your car being booted and/or towed.

1. Find your parking citation

If you don't have the citation with you, you can look up a parking citation using your license plate number, the vehicle identification number or case number. This online tool will only find cases handled by the City of Austin Municipal Court.

If you received a citation outside of Austin or if it was written by anyone other than a City of Austin enforcement officer, you cannot lookup your case or pay a citation using this tool.

2. Resolve your citation

Pay your citation

There are a few ways to pay your citation:

If you are unable to pay, and have 3 or more cases, you may appear in person at a hearing office to discuss options for a monthly payment plan.

Request a dismissal of the case

If you can show that you did pay for parking or that someone else was responsible for the vehicle, you can ask for the case to be dismissed. You'll be asked to attach any documentation you'd like considered.

Show you were not responsible for the vehicle

Request a hearing

If you believe you were legally parked and/or would like to dispute the parking citation you may request a hearing. You can only request a hearing for a parking citation on or before the initial appearance date.
