Cultural Funding Review Process: Arts, Heritage & Music
The City of Austin Economic Development Department plans to redistribute the City of Austin’s Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) which supports arts, heritage, and music cultural funding with intentional focus on equity and inclusion. Revenue gained from City of Austin Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) is used to promote tourism and the convention and hotel industry in Austin.
In Fall 2019, the Economic Development Department began the process to re-imagine the use of HOT-funded programs within the Economic Development Department, in partnership with MJR Partners. In Summer 2019, we launched community centered listening sessions and workshops as part of the Cultural Funding Review Process.
Organizations who are interested in supporting HOT-funded programs are invited to participate in our public engagement sessions in fall of 2020.
