On Friday, April 10, 2026, at approximately 6:28 a.m., Austin Police (APD) officers responded to a collision involving a motor vehicle and a pedestrian in the 2100 block of East Ben White SVRD EB. The driver was not impaired and remained on the scene, cooperating with the investigation. Both the driver and passenger sustained minor injuries. The pedestrian, who was later identified as Jada Martin, was pronounced deceased on scene.

This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 23rd fatal crash of 2026, resulting in 23 fatalities. On the date of this crash in 2025, 23 fatal crashes resulted in 27 deaths.
