Austin Public Health offering health screenings & vaccines for all at annual health fair
AUSTIN, Texas – In a time when personal health should be prioritized, Austin Public Health (APH) encourages families and neighbors to join us for the Fiesta de Salud Health Fair on Saturday, September 10. APH staff will be at Walnut Creek Elementary providing vaccinations, health screenings and prizes. All are welcome.
Four years prior to the pandemic, APH's Health Equity Unit started the yearly health fair after seeing health disparities in Travis County.
"We know the last few years have been difficult for our community," said Austin Public Health Director Adrienne Sturrup. "We’re thrilled to have capacity to once again host Fiesta de Salud. It’s an opportunity for everyone, especially our communities disproportionately impacted with chronic disease or illness, to complete important health screenings and stay up to date with their vaccines."
Fiesta de Salud is a FREE opportunity to get up to date with vaccines, especially after COVID-19 disrupted many families’ vaccination schedules and routine health screenings.
APH teams will administer vaccines* to all who are eligible, provide kidney screenings, vision screenings, blood pressure and sugar screenings, A1C tests and cholesterol screenings.
Parking is available on site. Spanish, Arabic, Vietnamese, Dari and Pashto interpretation will be available.
This fiesta includes entertainment with traditional cultural performances by Danza Azteca Guadalupana de Austin, Texas Dragon/ Lion Dance Team (TDDT) and The Groovers of Texas Line Dance. Come join us for bingo, raffles, goody bags and healthy snacks from local vendors.
