About Council Member José “Chito” Vela

Biography

Hi there! My name is José “Chito” Vela, and I am your Austin City Council Member for District 4. Your perspective is important to me, and I hope to hear from you whenever you have an issue!  

I was born in Laredo, Texas. I first moved to Austin to gain my bachelor’s in history at the University of Texas, which led me to fall in love with Austin as a city.
