PRIDE - Vision and Values

A message from Austin City Manager Marc Ott:

Every year, Austin residents rate our services. This year I'm proud to say that among 13 cities with populations greater than 500,000, we had the highest overall satisfaction rating. We set the standard for the other large cities by rating above the national average in 41 of 46 areas that we were assessed.

Our consultant had this conclusion: "The City of Austin is definitely moving in the right direction." He also noted that it was quite an achievement considering the budgetary challenges of the past few years.

I have said we won't be the ones to announce that we're reaching our "best managed" goal. That's for our residents and customers to decide. Clearly, you have decided we're making progress!

Our success is attributable to the hard work, thoughtfulness and passion of our Council, City employees and Austinites themselves.

As I told the City Council, City staff will not rest on our laurels, but continue to bring a passion for excellent service to our jobs on a daily basis.

PRIDE reflects our core values of public service and how we relate to our customers and each other. It is a statement of our collective vision and values. It is my belief that because we take PRIDE in what we do, our mission to be the best-managed city in the country is recognized and appreciated by our residents.

Thank you for being part of our success.

While you are here, please review some of the materials we have developed to assist City employees in taking PRIDE in their work to make Austin the most livable, best-managed city in the country.
