Blasting

A licensed blaster and blasting permit (pdf) is required for the job-related transportation, on-site storage and use of all explosives.

Driveway and sidewalk permits are required for any concrete flatwork occurring in the right of way. This includes removal, repair or installation of sidewalks, driveway approaches and curbs or gutters.

Emergency operations means operation or repair of facilities to prevent imminent harm to the health, safety or welfare of persons or property.

Excavation removes or otherwise disturbs soil, pavement, driveways, curbs or sidewalks in the right of way. In order to excavate in the City of Austin, you must obtain an Excavation Permit.

In order to temporarily block, direct, impede or reroute pedestrian and vehicular traffic for filming activity within a City-maintained public right of way, you must first obtain a Film Permit.  To help serve you better, create a new user account or login to our system, if already registered.

You must submit an application to the Public Works Department in order to obtain a release of a public easement, license for the private use of public property or vacation of a public right of way. View a process flow chart.

To request a designated parking space for a non-construction purpose and obtain an exception to applicable parking regulations, you must file a Parking Application, pay a fee and obtain a permit.

For clearance to temporarily block, direct, impede or reroute pedestrian and vehicular traffic within a City-maintained public right of way, you must first obtain a Temporary Use Permit.

Traffic Control Review

The primary function of temporary traffic control is to provide for the reasonably safe and efficient movement of road users through or around temporary traffic control zones while reasonably protecting workers, responders to traffic incidents and equipment.

The Austin Utility Location and Coordination Committee’s (AULCC) objective is to identify and resolve any potential conflicts before construction begins, in order to reduce the impact on existing infrastructure and transportation.
