The Austin Parks and Recreation Department is committed to offering programs for teens that encourage development through active play, outdoor exploration, the arts, critical thinking, and leadership activities. Teen Recreation programs offer participants a way to interact and create friendships with other teens around the city.

Summer Teen Camps
The Austin Parks and Recreation Department offers diverse, educational, and action-packed Summer Camps for teens. The following sites will offer Summer Camps in 2019. Our mission is to provide teens with a safe and fun way to spend summer days. Our programs offers opportunities to explore nature, give back to the community, stay active through swimming and sports, and participate in activities that foster social and emotional wellness.
The following sites will offer Teen Drop-In Programs in 2018:
Dittmar Recreation Center:Teen Flamingle (May 31 from 12PM - 2PM) Teens ages 13-17 years are welcome to come join us for a free afternoon of games at Dittmar Recreation Center! Enjoy some popcorn while you get to know other teens in our community. Board games offered: Uno, Game of Phones, Sorry, and Heads Up.
Virginia L. Brown Recreation Center: Just 4 Teens is an 8-week program for teens ages 11-17. The program runs June 11 - August 3, 2018, Monday through Friday from 1:00pm to 5:00pm. Teens will participate in college visits, cooking, team building, swimming, and games. The program will also include speakers and community service projects.
Counselor in Training Program
Counselor In Training is a leadership development program with a focus on expanding our participants' professional skillsets. In addition, we aim to provide our CITs with fun recreational opportunities in a camp setting. The following sites will offer Counselor in Training Programs for teens in 2019:
Dittmar Recreation Center is proud to offer Teen After School for youth attending Bedichek Middle School, Bailey Middle School, and Covington Middle School. The Teen After School Program is designed to foster development through active play and enrichment activities. The schedule includes: a healthy snack, homework/reading time, staff led active play, and theme based enrichment activities. Participants will ride in a City of Austin 15 passenger van from school to Dittmar Recreation Center. Register at austintexas.gov/parksonline.
