Austin, TX - Austin Animal Services will be closed to the public on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, for a staff training day.

The shelter’s intake services, front lobby, and Pet Resource Center will be closed for the day while staff participate in training and planning to strengthen operations and improve services for Austin’s pets and the people who care for them.

These closures will occur monthly on the second Wednesday of each month to allow staff time for training and operational planning. Ongoing training helps ensure staff can continue providing high-quality care for animals and responsive service to the Austin community.

Volunteers will maintain their normal schedules, and animal care will continue as usual to ensure all pets at the shelter receive daily care and attention.

Residents who need assistance or need to report an animal welfare concern should call 3-1-1.

Normal public hours will resume on Thursday, March 12.
