On March 10, 2022 the OPO received a phone complaint.
The complainant alleges: Police were called after an incident where her sister,
was severely beaten by at least four people. The officers cuffed her sister while the complainant
told them what happened. They saw how bloody her sister was. The complainant told the officers
where the people involved lived. They are her neighbors and she knows all of their names.
However, none of those people were arrested. The police didn't give the complainant any answers,
just put her sister in an ambulance and told the complainant to have a good night. Her sister is now
incarcerated with assault charges. She said she hasn't done anything. The complainant has videos
of the attack and said it would make your stomach hurt to watch it.
This notice of complaint is a request for Internal Affairs to initiate an investigation to determine
if the employee conduct is within compliance of APD policy, Civil Service Rules, and Municipal
Civil Service Rules.
