The City's in-person Victim Assistance Center will stay open Thursday, March 5
The City of Austin’s in-person Victim Assistance Center (VAC) will remain open on Thursday to serve those impacted by Sunday morning’s incident on W. 6th Street. Hours of operation will be 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The VAC opened on Tuesday to provide mental health support services, crisis counseling, other services, and information on available resources to those who were present at Sunday’s shooting, as well as to family members and others connected to those impacted.
The VAC will close after Thursday’s services offering, but that does not mean services are ending. Incidents like this can have impacts that last long beyond the initial event. The FBI San Antonio Division has compiled a list of all services and resources available to victims in a Virtual Family Assistance Center. Those services and resources can be found online at FBI.gov/San-Antonio-vfac.
Austin Emergency Management, Austin Police Victim Services, and FBI Victim Services would like to thank all the local municipal, county, state, federal, and non-profit organizations who contributed to the services provided at the VAC.
