The Austin Police Department (APD) has identified Francisco Chavez as the victim of the homicide on November 28.
On Sunday, November 28, 2021, at approximately 6:32 a.m., 9-1-1 received a call in reference to shots being fired on the 4700 block of Cypress Bend. Additional information was reported that a male was on the ground in the front yard of a residence, and may have been shot. When APD officers arrived, they found a man lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to his chest. APD officers began to administer life saving measures. Unfortunately, Francisco Chavez succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at 6:52 a.m. by Dr. Miller.
Homicide investigators and crime scene technicians responded to the scene to interview witnesses and process the scene. It became apparent that some type of disturbance had occurred following a family gathering. This case remains under investigation.
On November 29, 2021, the Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office conducted an autopsy and determined the official cause of death as gunshot wound and the manner, homicide.
