The Zilker Hillside Theater is currently accepting rental requests for March, April, September, and October 2022. 

A large outdoor theater

The Hillside is host to many beloved annual events such as Shakespeare in the Park, Zilker Theatre Production's Summer Musical and The South Asian New Year hosted by the Texas Bengali Cultural Alliance. During the months of March, September and October, organizations may request to rent the Zilker Hillside Theater for their public performance or special event.

The Space

The outdoor venue’s large stage, ample lighting capability, amenities, and location (next to Barton Springs Pool) make it the perfect spot for your next dance recital, symphony or cultural event. The facility includes:

  • 2 large indoor dressing rooms
  • Back stage restrooms and storage.
  • Optional mobile stage flats 
  • Backstage loading and build areas

Rental Inquiries and Reservations

All events must be free to the public. Any event with an estimated attendance of over 500 people will need to submit a City Wide Event application for approval by the Office of Special Events before the reservation request can be reviewed. What kind of events can you rent the theater for?

The hillside is perfect for orchestra or band concerts, musical productions, cultural festivals and dance. All events must be free and open to the public. The Zilker Hillside Theater is not able to accommodate personal/life events such as birthday parties, weddings, life celebrations, etc. Alcohol is not permitted to be sold, served or consumed on facility grounds. 

What is the maximum seating capacity?

The Zilker Hillside Theater does not have a fenced in seating area. The maximum number of people that can be seated at one time is 2,500. Any event with an estimated attendance of over 500 people will need to submit a City Wide Event application for approval by the Office of Special Events before the reservation request can be reviewed.

What happens if I have to cancel due to bad weather?

The Zilker Hillside Theater will do its best to work with each rental client ahead of time to schedule an alternative rain date. For more information about refunds and cancellations you can refer to the ZHT Facility Rental User Guide
