OFFICE OF
POLICE OVERSIGHT
NOTICE OF COMPLAINT
January 6, 2023
ICMS #: 2023-0011
On January 5, 2023, the OPO received a phone complaint.
The complainant alleges: It should not take 3 weeks to talk to someone from APD when
there are prowlers in your backyard. When he got a call back from APD it came thru as an
unknown and his phone rejected the call. The
should not be such a coward
and afraid of the
and he should not be putting it all on 311. The complainant
was born and raised in Austin. The complainant stated there should not be any hiding in
the police department. He and everybody else in the city pay APD's salary. APD is in a
building that is brick and has armored glass. There is no intercom or buzzer or bell to ring
if you want to talk to someone at the police station and the complainant thinks it is
disgusting to do that to people in Austin. Prowlers are in his backyard every day and night.
They have also destroyed property in his subdivision. The complainant is elderly and
disabled and he has no weapon. The complainant stated he does have his cane and if they
break into his house, they are going to feel the cane upside their heads. The complainant
alleges the prowlers may kill him, but he guarantees they are going to know who he is
before they kill him. The police officers are not doing their jobs. They are paid to protect
the people, but it takes 3 or 4 weeks for someone to tell you that they will get back to you.
The police department is supposed to be there to help. Once before the complainant called
repeatedly regarding a giant transient area near
They did clear the camps,
but the transients are back more than ever. Austin is the only city in the US where you
can't call the police and talk to them, you have to go through 311. The complainant is going
to the tv and stir up the biggest stink the city has ever seen. He hopes the
gets
mad and he hopes they fire him because he is overpaid and underqualified.
This notice of complaint is a request for Internal Affairs to initiate an investigation to
determine if the employee conduct is within compliance of APD policy, Civil Service
Rules, and Municipal Civil Service Rules.
