Rooted & Rising, a collaboration with Asian Texans for Justice*, is happening Saturday, September 6 from 10:00am-2:00pm at the AARC! This full-day workshop is designed for rising 8th through 11th-grade students to explore how they can advocate for themselves, build stronger relationships, and make a meaningful impact in their community.

  • Session 1 - Setting Boundaries & Building Healthy Relationships | In breakout rooms, students will learn how to navigate relationships and set healthy boundaries with friends, family, school, and beyond. This session equips students with skills and strategies to advocate for themselves and to communicate their needs.
  • Session 2 - Our Shared Histories: Understanding Asian American Experiences | Students will explore Asian American history and the Asian American experience. This session encourages students to see themselves as part of history and inspires them to advocate for their communities.
  • Session 3 - Lunch & Learn with Community Leaders | Over lunch, students will meet community members from a diverse range of professions and hear how they’ve used their passion and skills to create positive change.
