Project Overview
Join us in an exciting endeavor brought to you by the City of Austin’s Urban Forest Grant Program. We're on the lookout for a skilled and imaginative artist to craft a captivating series of illustrations for the Tree Lotería Illustration Project. Our goal? To enrich our educational resources with vibrant depictions of trees and the diverse life forms they sustain within the Austin community.
About the Project
In collaboration with a selected artist, we're thrilled to announce the Tree Lotería Illustration Project. With a grant of $20,000, we're embarking on a journey to expand our library of illustrations, fostering environmental awareness and tree care among our diverse community.
What is Lotería?
Lotería isn't just a game—it's an immersive cultural experience. Originating from Mexican tradition, Lotería captivates players with its vividly illustrated cards and engaging gameplay. In our project, 54 tree species, accompanied by illustrations of the life forms they support, will leap from the cards, celebrating the richness of Hispanic/Latino cultural traditions and the abundant tree palette of central Texas.

Who is Eligible to Apply?
Individuals who would like to apply must be an independent contractor and able to receive payment in the United States to be considered eligible to receive funds. Please review page four of the grant application for more details.
Submission Deadline
Artists interested in applying for this grant must submit their complete applications electronically using this online form by the deadline, 11:59 PM, Friday, May 10, 2024. Late applications will not be considered. The selected artist will be notified no later than June 20, 2024.
