Suspect: Alexander Jordan, a Black male, 26-year-old
The Austin Police Department (APD) identified and arrested 26-year-old Alexander Jordan for a string of robberies. Nine aggravated robberies occurred throughout Austin and surrounding jurisdictions. All armed robberies occurred over two days, from June 25 thru June 26, 2022. Eight of these robberies occurred within APD's jurisdiction, and one occurred within the jurisdiction of the Travis County Sheriff's Office (TCSO). Some of these robberies included multiple victims.
The first four armed robberies occurred within six and a half hours, beginning on June 25 at 8:19 p.m. and ending on June 26 at 2:44 a.m. The investigation shows that on June 26, Jordan committed an additional five armed robberies within five hours, beginning at 11:27 a.m., and ending at 4:12 p.m.
All of the robberies that Jordan committed were similar, in which Jordan entered convenience stores or small places of business, displayed a handgun, and demanded cash from the employees. Surveillance video shows Jordan arriving and leaving the scenes in a stolen white 2021 Kia K5.
Before identifying Jordan, patrol officers were notified to be on the lookout for a 2021 Kia K5 and received surveillance photos of the suspect. Patrol officers located a vehicle matching Jordan's vehicle. Officers learned the vehicle Jordan was driving was registered as a rental car. Officers attempted to stop him, but Jordan drove away.
A short time later, the APD Violent Crimes Taskforce located and arrested Jordan. Officers found a gun similar to the weapon used in the robberies, clothing described during the robberies, and a large sum of cash. Jordan faces ten counts of Aggravated Robbery, Unlawful Use of a Motor Vehicle, and Evading Detention.
