On Saturday, January 29, 2022, at approximately 2:56 a.m., 9-1-1 received a call reporting a female that appeared to have been shot. The woman was found behind a local motel located at 11506 N IH 35 Svrd SB. Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to the scene and located the female victim near a dumpster. She was unresponsive and appeared to have suffered a gunshot wound. Austin-Travis County EMS arrived and performed life-saving measures, but the woman succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at 3:30 a.m. by Dr. Ackrell. The victim was identified as Angela Fresquez.
Homicide detectives and crime scene specialists responded to process the scene.
On January 30, 2022, Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office conducted an autopsy and determined the official cause of death as gunshot wound, and the manner, homicide.
On February 14, 2022, the Lonestar Fugitive Taskforce arrested Matthew Moreno in the 5600 block of Springdale Rd. on a 1st degree Murder warrant. Moreno was transported and booked into the Travis County Jail. Moreno is being held without bond.
