The APD Aggravated Assault Unit is investigating a case in which a hotel guest was shot on Monday, October 5, 2020 at approximately 12:30 a.m. The victim walked out of the Quality Inn and Suites to retrieve some property from a vehicle when he reported hearing what he thought were fireworks. He turned in the direction of the sound and saw two men approaching him. Both suspects fired weapons multiple times, striking the victim and the vehicle. The men ran northbound on Gessner Drive.
The victim was aided by a friend who ushered him inside the hotel. Upon arrival, officers applied a tourniquet to the wound. Austin-Travis County EMS then transported him to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries where he was treated and released.
The suspects are described as:
Suspect #1:
- Black male
- Average build
- Estimated to be between 18 and 25 years of age
- Last seen wearing a black hoodie and dark-color shorts
Suspect #2:
- Black male
- Estimated to be between 18 and 25 years of age
- Last seen wearing a light-color hoodie and dark-color pants
