Deceased:        Mary Arencibia, Hispanic female, born March 26, 1954
  
The Austin Police Department (APD) has identified the deceased in the August 24 fatality as Mary Arencibia.
 
At approximately 6:30 a.m., APD officers responded to the area of Pearce Ln. and Las Alas Trl. for an auto vs. pedestrian collision. The initial investigation shows that a 2014 Hyundai Accent was traveling on Pearce Ln when Mary Arencibia was crossing the street. The Hyundai struck her in the roadway. She was transported to St. David’s South Austin Hospital where she later died on September 8, 2021.

This is Austin’s 79th fatal traffic crash of 2021, resulting in 85 fatalities for the year. On the date of this crash in 2020, there were 55 fatal crashes resulting in 60 fatalities.
