The Austin Police Department (APD) has identified Jose Vasquez as the victim of the homicide on November 24.
On Wednesday, November 24, 2021, at approximately 10:39 p.m., 9-1-1 received a call of shots fired in the parking lot of the Walmart located at 1030 Norward Park Blvd. APD officers, along with Austin-Travis County EMS, arrived on the scene and discovered a shooting victim with obvious trauma. The victim was transported to Dell Seton Medical Center at the University of Texas where he succumbed to his injuries. Jose Vasquez was pronounced deceased at 11:20 p.m. by Dr. Bradley.
Homicide investigators and crime scene technicians responded to the scene to interview witnesses and process the scene.
On November 25, 2021, the Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office conducted an autopsy and determined the official cause of death as gunshot wound and the manner, homicide.
