Suspect (arrested): Isidro Sanchez Navarrette, White male, 47 years of age

On Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at approximately 11:17 p.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to calls reporting a shooting at Fort Branch Apartments, located at 5800 Techni Center Drive. Austin-Travis County EMS (A/TCEMS) and Austin Fire Department (AFD) also arrived on the scene and attempted life-saving measures on the shooting victim, Joe Santos Gonzales. Santos Gonzales was pronounced deceased at the scene.
 
Homicide detectives and Crime Scene Specialists responded to process the scene.
 
Detectives believe that Santos Gonzales and the suspect, Isidro Sanchez Navarrette, were roommates, and had gotten into a verbal argument leading up to the shooting and death of Santos Gonzales.
 
The Lone Star Fugitive Task Force have arrested and charged Navarrette for First-Degree Murder, where he is currently being held in the Travis County jail.
