On Saturday, January 14, 2023, at approximately 3:05 a.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a crash between a pickup truck and a pedestrian, Angela Marie Moreno, in the 300 block of E Howard Lane. A preliminary investigation shows that Moreno was standing in the inside traffic lane when she was hit by the pickup truck. Moreno died at the scene. The pickup truck driver remained on the scene and cooperated with the investigation.

This incident is being investigated as Austin's 3rd fatal crash of 2023, resulting in three fatalities for the year. On the date of this crash in 2022, one fatal crash resulted in two deaths.
