The Austin Police Department (APD) continues to investigate the critical incident that occurred on February 10, 2021 at 2907 Rogge Lane. Although the production process is underway, APD will not release this video during the extended timeframe due to production and stakeholder feedback delays.
With the extension of this video release, the next video from the April 9, 2021-6300 block of East U.S. Highway 290 Service Road incident will be delayed as well.
Once the 2907 Rogge Lane video release is completed, APD will move forward with the video production for the 6300 block of East US Highway 290 critical incident. At this time, video release deadlines are:
- February 10, 2021, critical incident video to be released no later than June 10, 2021.
- April 9, 2021, critical incident video to be released no later than July 8, 2021.
This is a 30-day extension from the original 60-day timeframe. APD can work on critical incident video releases consecutively and not simultaneously.
The officers significantly involved in the February 10, 2021, critical incident are identified as:
- Officer Jeffrey Hutchison - 8 years of service with APD
- Officer Ryan Nichols - 13 years of service with APD
These officers, who were initially placed on paid administrative leave in line with APD policy, have since been returned to full duty.
The Austin Police Department continues to work to provide a clear and unbiased account of critical incidents to the community. The goal of this effort is to increase transparency and build trust through the release of community briefing videos.
