Complaint:
My experience with the Austin Police Department has been absolutely miserable. I am floored by
the carelessness of Ofc. Ariel Crumes, Badge AP8893.
Ofc. Crumes responded to a vehicle collision on May 13th, 2024 and prepared Crash Report
241340890. When preparing the Crash Report, I am under the impression and assumption that
she incorrectly transcribed the Texas License Plate Number for the Unit 2 involved in the
collision. The report reflects that Unit 2 was bearing TX Lic#
which is that license plate
that my vehicle, a blue 2023 Tesla Model 3 bears. However, my vehicle was not in the accident.
The vehicle that was actually involved in the accident was bearing TX Lic#
.
While I understand that this is a simple mistake and transcription errors occur, I would allow
grace for the error. However, Ofc. Crumes decided to double down. Instead of verifying any driver
or insurance information, again, I am under an impression and assumption, she simply used the
information that populated as being associated with the TX Lic#
.
As a result, Ofc. Crumes now has not only my vehicle but also myself listed on a Crash Report for
an accident that I was not involved in. Her carelessness has caused me headaches and
challenges. I am having to deal with my financing company and insurance company who both
have questions about how I was involved in an accident and what the condition of the vehicle is.
Thankfully, this has not yet surfaced at work but because travel is a necessary component of my
job, if I was in a serious accident as document by Ofc. Crumes, I could be barred from traveling,
leaving me unable to fulfill the basic functions of my role, resulting in termination.

Complaint:
My name is
and on July,30,2024 I walked to the 7/11 corner store to buy a
drink and when I left I went back across the street to the bus stop in front of the social
apartments at 1817 E. Oltorf st with my friend to make sure he got on the bus safely Officer
Avalrez and Officer Kirchberg mean while had already passed me and made a u-turn in the
middle of the street and sped up to us at the bus stop I didn't know they were coming for me and
I did nothing wrong so I continued to stand there they turned their lights one and got out of the
car in a jump out tactic I was already standing with my hand in my pants and when they told me
to remove my hands from my pants I put my hands in the air open palmed to show them that I
had nothing and I was unarmed I got rushed I was never asked my name they didn't ask for
identification and I was never told I was being detained
They immediately grabbed me with excessive force then out of no where I was picked up and
slammed on the left side of my body by Officer Kirchberg I don't know who the next officers
were but another officer came and helped kirchberg and avalrez pin me to the ground they
threatened to shoot me and tase me at that moment i really knew that i was in fear for my life I
genuinely was scared i was never read my Miranda rights or anything and i called that out to
both officers that they didn't do it and was told "oh we don't do that anymore we're not required
to" it wasn't until I was actually placed in handcuffs that they told me I was arrested I asked why
and they told me for resisting arrest originally when I asked before they said they pulled me over
for Jay walking and I was told at 10:00 pm that I was "the first person they saw Jay walking that
day" I was never charged with it though after they picked me up off the ground and went
through my pockets and ripped everything out of them there was at least 5-6 officers in total on
the scene they said they were scared for something to happen to them when nobody outside at
the time was a threat at all there were just a bunch of phones out from what I saw I told them if
they didn't feel comfortable conducting their search and talking to me right there at the scene
then they should've walked me back across the street to the store or pulled me to a different side
of the car out the way instead they chose to once again use excessive force and stuff me in the
back of the police car and they ran the light and sped me down the street to a dark place I could
tell we were behind some other houses maybe but I could barley see where I was I was held
there for at least a extra 10-15 minutes I tired to talk to the officers they were disrespectful and
kept walking off from me afterward I was placed back into the car I waited about 10 more
minutes then I was able to speak to sergeant Johnson for a little bit he explained everything a
little better and expressed that it was out of his control that he couldn't do anything to help me
at the time when I was done talking to him all of the officers who pulled up to behind those
house sat and talked for a lil bit then I was taken to the downtown precinct and placed in

custody I feel like APD could have handled the entire situation alot better and nobody deserves
to be treated in such a manner especially with how many codes and rules I'm sure they broke

they want to people are able to go home to their family's and kids and wives at the end of the
night peacefully with no consequences for their inappropriate and violent actions I sustained
injuries after being slammed on my body on dirty ground. I have cuts I have bruises. I was also
put into the county jail where I had to pay $300 to bond out and I spent 24 hours in jail with my
newborn and my fiancé at home, these officers turned off their body cameras to drive me to a
unsafe not secure location where I was in fear because I didn't know what would happen next

The complainant"s wife was a four-way stop. She was about to go when another car failed to
stop and hit her, totaling her car. She called the police, and officer Kreisner showed up.
The other driver admitted fault. The complainant's wife asked that they issue a citation to the
other driver. She asked that the officer write an accident report. Everyone was cooperating. The
officer said he would but did not.
Now the complainant and his wife have no evidence to make a claim. The insurance company
cannot determine fault because the officer never made a citation or took an accident report.
They"ve lost their vehicle because of all of this.

they were doing this for a traffic infraction, and the officer yelled in her face that this was because
her boyfriend was a drug dealer. She thought this was very rude, especially considering this was

spouse left in an ambulance because he has a back injury and they kept him in cuffs and roughly
pushed him down even though he had been telling the officers about his injury. Before the officers
released her, they said they pulled her over because she doesn"t have a license, the vehicle

Nature of complaint: Improper Police Procedure
Austin Police Officers Involved: 9271- Brown, Chase
Unknown:
Complaint:
Complainant alleges that her 25-year-old daughter called the police during an altercation she
was having with her. Complainant later leaves the house to go to a dentist appointment, when
Officer Chase Brown flips a u-turn and pulls her over based off the 911 call her daughter made.
Once complainant pulls over, the officer asked her to step out of the call. Officer Chase then
informs her there was a 911 call where she assaulted her daughter. Complainant alleges the
officer just assumed that is what happens and arrests her.
Complainant alleges she was having chest pain and anxiety, given she was upset already and now
she's going to jail. The ambulance came because she was having chest pains. They took her to the
hospital where she alleges Officer Brown kept checking her eyes for what she assumed was him
checking for DUI, which she doesn't drink. After about 8 times, she informed the officer that she
wasn't going to take another eye test since she passed every one.
She informs the officer that she had to use the restroom, so she was uncuffed at that moment
and then directed to leave the door open and not flush. Complainant does as she's told, then exits
the restroom and Officer Brown goes in after.
When Officer Brown exits the restroom, he exits with methamphetamines and tells the
complainant 'Look what I found.' Complainant alleges that was not her methamphetamines - she
repeatedly stated it wasn't hers.
Complainant alleges Officer Brown lied in his report not only about the methamphetamines, but
to the incident that happened between her and her daughter. Complainant states that Officer
Brown put in his report that she choked her daughter, and her daughter couldn't breathe for 3-5
minutes. Complainant alleges that her daughter admitted the officers report miss represented
what actually happened. The police report should have been depicted that the whole ordeal
lasted 3-5 minutes: i.e. the slapping, trying to keep her from calling the police, covering her
mouth so her daughter's son wouldn't hear her screaming and yelling (because her daughter
was messed up on pills.) Complainant alleges that her daughter would attest to this.

probably the first time I"ve felt failed by a Police department.

To whom it may concern,
I was traveling Northbound on Mopac a couple of hours ago during the pouring rain. There was
an SUV police car behind me who was tailgating me that I was getting nervous of their distance. I
was in the second to slowest lame. I decided to pull to the slowest lane and let him pass me.l got
off at my normal exit of Parmer to make a right hand turn. I saw the same SUV in the slowest
lane. I remember this as there was some damage to the driver side windshield area with part of
the plastic coming up. As the light turned green, he started to go at a faster than normal speed.
He got behind a little red car for two blocks and was tailgating him pretty recklessly. Both of
them turned right onto the street where the APD substation is. I was able to read the SUVs car Id
number and it was 6128. This officer really needs to learn how to drive better in the rain and
lead by example. He didn"t even use his signals when changing lanes or making a right hand turn
on that street to the substation.
Thank you,

Was turning west onto Barton Springs Rd from the Barton Springs parking lot and noticed a
squad car on the eastbound shoulder who had pulled over another vehicle. As my girlfriend was
driving by (I was sitting in the passenger seat), the squad car made a u-turn, from the opposite
shoulder, and almost t-boned her car. She stopped to let the car go ahead of us and the officer
lurched forward, coming closer to hitting the driver's side of the car. We began to drive forward
so that we could pull over because the squad car had its lights on. The officer then tailgated us as
we turned right onto Stratford Dr, then proceeded to rapidly accelerate around us, swerving into
the opposite lane in the process. The squad car sped off northbound on Stratford Dr, turned off
its lights, and I lost sight of it.
It might be worth mentioning that 10 minutes before this incident a male officer pulled into the
parking lot next to Pecan Grove Picnic Area and asked me if I had seen "an ice cream truck" or "a
sketchy looking red jeep." Once I told I hadn't seen anything of the sort, he drove off rather fast. I
mention this because he seemed very frantic and on edge to both me and the people I was with. I
have no way of knowing whether this was the same officer that almost t-boned my girlfriend's
car, but it seems plausible.

Hello, on Sunday August 11th I was traveling southbound on I35 around 12PM. There was an
accident on the northbound side. When I passed by, one of the people who had passed in the
accident was laying next to the car and completely visible to the cars passing by on the
southbound lanes. I unfortunately saw the deceased man and it was a gruesome scene due to the
burns. There were officers on scene, standing next to the man's body. I was extremely shaken up
by this and am concerned that there seemed to be no motivation to cover or conceal the body. I
read in the news that this accident happened around 8:30am, which was hours before I passed
by. The most upsetting thing is the privacy of the deceased seemed to be of no concern. I do not
know what APD's policies are in situations like this, but I would hope that privacy for victims
would be a higher priority that it was today.

I am a Paramedic with ATCEMS. We responded to a call EMS Incident #24225-0228. The subject
declined EMS and no obvious medical need was observed. The subject reported to EMS that it
was not safe for her to go home as she is being physically abused there. The decision was made
to request APD to the scene as the subject made an out cry.
As I was stepping out of the location with the subject, my partner remained with the subject, I
observed an officer walking into the building. I do not recall the exact wording however, the
officer was informed the subject was declining EMS and may be intoxicated. Further more she
expressed she is being physically assaulted at home.
We walked back into the area where my partner and the subject were. A brief period of time
passed and the officer told the subject she had three options: call someone for a ride, go to the
sobering center, or go to jail. At this point the subject became increasingly upset.
I was able to secure a more private location to speak inside the business. All parties moved to a
private office. inside the business The subject was reassured we (EMS) would do whatever we
could to assist the subject. I excused myself from the room and called our (C4) collaborative care
line to see what resources were avail as the subject was now no longer speaking with anyone.
While I was on the phone with our C4, my partner informed me the officer was leaving.
While there is much more to the story, the information was found out after the APD officer
departed the scene. My issue with this interaction is the officer threatened the victim with jail.
This further became evident as the subject attempted multiple times to leave the location
because she was afraid she was going to go to jail. DC03 observed the subject trying to leave.
DC03 was sitting in his vehicle speaking with an APD SGT about what had been reported to him.
DC03 was informed that what he was observing is the subject scared out of her mind that she
was going to be taken to jail.
We departed the scene only after contacting our supervisor, having eMCOT come to the scene,
speaking with Sgt. Bardo - Recommended filing a complaint with this office, and turning patient
care over to an all female EMS crew.

I can never get a hold of my district reps even after multiple calls and messages. I own a Security

to send someone out. He was threatening violence stating, "I am a felon I am not afraid of
violence" and other things. APD arrived after I left and stated that they would not trespass him
that it is a civil matter between management and them. In the YEARS that I have done this that
has NEVER been the case. As security we are representatives of the property and management.
This property particularly we have full authority from management to act on their behalf to
remove a person or have them removed. Why now are they refusing if he was in an open
common area and told to leave to remove him. That is a safety issue because he is now
trespassing and an unwanted person! I have attached the case number for reference as well.

I called 911 at 7:58 PM on 8/19/24 because someone had backed into my car and was refusing

8:13 PM to see if anyone was on their way yet. I was told no and just then, an APD officer literally
passes my location with no lights or sirens on, in no rush and stopping at red lights. He was
clearly not in any type of rush to an emergency yet kept driving right past me. This is the
SECOND time that APD has refused to show up to an accident sight. The first time around, all it
took was the other person to refuse fault for running a stop sign and their insurance refused to
take fault WITHOUT A POLICE REPORT. How can I get one when the police in my city REFUSE to
show up??? It's absolutely ridiculous to not be able to rely on emergency services. I have never
experienced a city where the first responders simply can't do their jobs until moving here. Yet in
pflugerville, their police department is there within seconds. Speaks volumes when the residents
of surrounding cities can rely on their police departments and the residents of Austin cannot. It
is now 8:35 PM and still haven't heard a peep from anyone in law enforcement. Absolute joke.

I called 911 at 4:44PM on 8/20 due to my car overheating. I had two cats and another person
with me, and one cat was bleeding. I was told that an officer would call me from an unknown
number. After 15+ minutes, we are all beginning to suffer from heat exhaustion and I call my
mother to come pick us up and take us home (5 min away). Expecting a call from the officer
when he arrives, I tend to my cats' wounds and return to my car 2 hours later since I've heard no
word to discover it's been towed.
On 8/21, I discover that the officer did not show up on scene till 5:44PM and towed my car at
6:30PM. I've been told from 911 communications that I should've left a note and later been told
that officers do not call victims and notes dont hold any legality. I find it ridiculous that APD
would expect me to stay at my car for an hour / not try to update me given the 105° heat. Aside
from the misinformation, I find it disreputable for this police officer to arrive to the scene an
hour later (having information on the case and my phone number) and not reach out to ask any
more details. I do not have any blockers for unknown callers, and with the information I had, I
was expecting a call. It is unethical to claim I should have waited or known when the officer was
to arrive to the scene. If I had continued to wait, I would have compromised the safety of
everyone in the car. The passenger and I were suffering from heat exhaustion while the cats
were panting and occasionally passing out by the time my mom arrived.

and belongings that continue, actions of threatening activity and harassment by an officer. That
appear to be acting unprofessionally, and in civil misconduct, misappropriating community
property and causing a disturbance that causes bodily injury. That is causing other professionals
to become injured. Location near Lamar and Fairfield. Reporting to Police Oversight.

Complaint:
Hello,
I am writing to complain about police loitering on the B1 floor of the parking garage at 4401
Westgate Blvd. This usually occurs at midday but they are sometimes there in the morning as
well. Sometimes there are multiple cars; it appears they consider this property an acceptable
place to hang out. Unfortunately, when present, the officers engage in loud conversation,
whether with each other or via taking phone calls and responding to communications. As
someone with a documented sleep disorder, I am legally entitled to reasonable accommodations
under both state and federal law, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). My
condition necessitates a midday nap in my car, and the B1 floor of this garage is the only location
where this is feasible. The disruptive behavior of these officers directly interferes with my ability
to manage my health condition.
The police presence is wholly unfounded; please address this issue ASAP. Under Texas law,
particularly Texas Penal Code $30.05, unauthorized presence on private property constitutes
criminal trespass. The regular, non-official presence of these officers-engaging in loud
conversations, taking phone calls, and responding to communications-violates the intended
use of this private property and disrupts the peaceful enjoyment of the premises by lawful
occupants.
Thanks,
6881

Complainant states that he was pulled over for no reason. Complainant states that he pulled into
Red Rose Gentleman's club parking lot and an officer lit him up; for what he believes was for no
reason. Complainant states that the officer started walking toward his car, so he lowered his
window 6 inches. Complainant was waiting for the officer to ask for the standard
documentation, but the officer refused to come to the window. The officer kept giving him
directions to roll the window all the way down, where he was uncomfortable doing so. After
going back and forth, the complainant asked the officer what the reason for the stop was. The
complainant states that the officer informs him that he was being pulled over for his tint being
too dark. Officer orders him to get out of the car or he was going to break his window. The
complainant at that time gets out of the vehicle. The complainant asked for a supervisor multiple
times during this stop.
The complainant is detained and searches the vehicle for no reason. Complainant states that
when he stepped out of the vehicle, he had a weed pipe (marijuana pipe) in the seat. The officers
took the pipe.
Complainant states that the supervisor did arrive and was told that when an officer gives him a
directive, he needs to follow it.
Complaints are as follows:
Harassment (tint was legal, so he was pulled over for no reason.)

Complainant gets lit up while on private property. He should have been lit up when he was
driving in the street.
Complainant states the officer damaged his car, and he wants compensation.
He wants it noted that it was under his understanding that APD outsourced routine traffic stops
to DPS. Due to that, he feels harassed because APD shouldn't have even stopped him to begin

VM - Complaint states that an officer called CPS on her for no reason. Complainant states that
she lost a babysitter because of this, and she doesn't want to find out who else she's going to lose

When I called her back to confirm the complaint:
Complainant states that she left her baby for maybe 20 minutes while she was trying to talk to
her neighbor. She was told the police were called. She doesn't know who called, but if it was the
police, she would like to file a complaint because there was no reason to call the police.
Complainant states that 911 informed her police officer do not call CPS - which further solidifies
her wanting to complain about the officer if they did in fact call CPS.

My name is
and on July,30,2024 I walked to the 7/11 corner store to buy a
drink and when I left I went back across the street to the bus stop in front of the social
apartments at 1817 E.
They immediately grabbed me with excessive force then out of no where I was picked up and
slammed on the left side of my body by Officer Kirchberg I don't know who the next officers
were but another officer came and helped kirchberg and avalrez pin me to the ground they
threatened to shoot me and tase me at that moment i really knew that i was in fear for my life I
genuinely was scared i was never read my Miranda rights or anything and i called that out to
both officers that they didn't do it and was told "oh we don't do that anymore we're not required
to" it wasn't until I was actually placed in handcuffs that they told me I was arrested I asked why
and they told me for resisting arrest originally when I asked before they said they pulled me over
for Jay walking and I was told at 10:00 pm that I was "the first person they saw Jay walking that
day" I was never charged with it though after they picked me up off the ground and went
through my pockets and ripped everything out of them there was at least 5-6 officers in total on
the scene they said they were scared for something to happen to them when nobody outside at
the time was a threat at all there were just a bunch of phones out from what I saw I told them if
they didn't feel comfortable conducting their search and talking to me right there at the scene
then they should've walked me back across the street to the store or pulled me to a different side
of the car out the way instead they chose to once again use excessive force and stuff me in the
back of the police car and they ran the light and sped me down the street to a dark place I could
tell we were behind some other houses maybe but I could barley see where I was I was held
there for at least a extra 10-15 minutes I tired to talk to the officers they were disrespectful and
kept walking off from me afterward I was placed back into the car I waited about 10 more
minutes then I was able to speak to sergeant Johnson for a little bit he explained everything a
little better and expressed that it was out of his control that he couldn't do anything to help me
at the time when I was done talking to him all of the officers who pulled up to behind those
house sat and talked for a lil bit then I was taken to the downtown precinct and placed in

complainant 'Look what I found.' Complainant alleges that was not her methamphetamines - she
repeatedly stated it wasn't hers.
The police report should have been depicted that the whole ordeal
lasted 3-5 minutes: i.e. the slapping, trying to keep her from calling the police, covering her
mouth so her daughter's son wouldn't hear her screaming and yelling (because her daughter
was messed up on pills.) Complainant alleges that her daughter would attest to this.

it directly implies that we are not guaranteed protection by the Police Department. This also
could have escalated into a violent or life threatening situation and there would have been no

probably the first time I"ve felt failed by a Police department.

Bardo - Recommended filing a complaint with this office, and turning patient
care over to an all female EMS crew.

that it is a civil matter between management and them.
I have attached the case number for reference as well.

ground. I was telling him. Why are you doing this? He told me to back the fuck up. I was backing
UP. And then he pulls out which looks like a gun and then tazer"s me 2 times with no warning.
And then other police officers came from behind and tackled me to the ground.

He bought several gift cards from best buy, and best buy notified APD. The complainant stated he
bought close to 10,000 worth of gift cards. APD then showed up to his house accusing him of
being a scammer. The complainant states that he was not home with this incident took place, but
his wife was. The complainant"s wife called him while the APD officers were in his home, and
they began apologizing to him over the phone. The complainant states he needs answers on why
APD did that to him. The complainant states they had no reason for going to his home and
doesn"t understand why he cannot buy gift cards.

The complainant"s card was stolen at Pease Park and used at CVS store number 06892. She tried
filing a report and still hasn"t been able to speak with an officer about this. The video evidence
from the CVS cannot be released without a police report. She has made a service request, and
missed two calls from APD. No one left her any information to call them back, and then her
request was closed. She is frustrated at how hard it is to file a report and get a response from
APD.

I called 911 at 7:58 PM on 8/19/24 because someone had backed into my car and was refusing
to give insurance. They were driving a vehicle that was not their own as well. As said in the first
phone call, the man was yelling at me and getting too close to me for comfort. I called again at
8:13 PM to see if anyone was on their way yet.
Absolute joke.

like this shouldn"t be police officers and shouldn"t be pulling people over based on assumptions.

Complaint:
Hello,
I am writing to complain about police loitering on the B1 floor of the parking garage at 4401
Westgate Blvd.

He wants it noted that it was under his understanding that APD outsourced routine traffic stops
to DPS. Due to that, he feels harassed because APD shouldn't have even stopped him to begin
with.

VM - Complaint states that an officer called CPS on her for no reason. Complainant states that
she lost a babysitter because of this, and she doesn't want to find out who else she's going to lose
because of it.
