"Case number 232430491
Officers were responding a to false noise complaint which somehow targeted the complainant's
apartment. The complainant had no idea what was going on and was working in her home. She
heard banging on the door and officers yelling please open up. She chose not to open her doors
and not to have anything to do with them because she knew she didn't have to. They entered her
home without permission. She heard 2 police officers in her house, so she opened her bedroom
door to find one of the police officers had a gun pulled on her. The officers cited a wellness check
as the cause to enter and said that someone had filed a noise complaint. The complainant said
there was no reason to enter or pull a gun in her house. She told officers to leave and that they did
not have permission to be inside her home. After they left, she went to lock door and take
pictures of their car. One of the police officers told her that next time she should open the door.
She said this is harassment and it is unacceptable. She stated that the false sense of authority is
unacceptable. After the incident, she then called 911 to find out who their supervising officer was.
She spoke with 5 operators before she found one who would give her info on the supervising
officer. She feels the operators were unwilling to help. Corporal Rodriguez was the shift
supervisor and when he spoke with her, he was more interested in wanting her to understand his
perspective instead of taking accountability and listening to what she had to say. She said she
understands what a wellness check is, but it doesn't excuse the officers coming into her home and
pulling a gun on her. The complainant also stated that Officer Shows never called back after she
attempted to call him. The complainant stated this is the 2nd time she has been harassed by APD
at her house."

"On May 25th she tried to file a fraud report on investors who coerced
, an elderly 72-
year-old man, into signing over his home. She had proof that the investors were showing up at
the house. She contacted APD to look into the situation because the gentleman was elderly and
was being taken advantage of. APD filed the report as harassment and later came back and said it
does not fall under harassment but could be a civil matter. The report was left as harassment.
Detective Richard Smith spoke to her about the situation, so she thought APD was there for her.
But it turned out the Investors called APD a week after she did and alleged theft. APD found the
report she filed but the people in her report, who were the investors, were labeled as unidentified
when she clearly gave information with their names-so why were they listed as unidentified
people? The complainant alleges it feels like discrimination to her."

I saw a video on TikTok that was incredibly disturbing. I just want to know if the officer John
Matthew Hattaway has been investigated and terminated for his road rage incident, and the vile
language he used against the woman in the video. Police officers who speak to woman like this
should not be allowed to serve. As if Texas doesn"t hate woman enough this is absolutely
deplorable behavior, and let him off the hook would mean you do not care about the safety of
the people you serve.

Regarding John Hattaway
After verbally assaulting a female driver in unprompted road rage, including sexist, derogatory
remarks, your Officer John Mathew Hattaway attempted to intimidate the victim by swerving his
oversized truck into the neighboring lane, nearly hitting the vehicle of the victim. Officer John
Hattaway was heard clearly on camera, repeatedly stating, "What are you going to do about it?"
which suggests a frequent abuse of his power, as he demonstrates his feelings of being
untouchable, both by law and punishment for his actions. During the duration of this altercation,
Officer John Hattaway had at least one
, present in his vehicle,
subjecting the
to both the aggressive and derogatory remarks made against the female
driver along with endangerment of the child's life by his reckless swerving and attempt to strike
the victim's vehicle. As a fellow female citizen of Texas, I am thoroughly disgusted by this
behavior demonstrated by your officer, and demand John Hattaway be reprimanded for his
actions and be removed from the Austin Police Force immediately and permanently and should
be banned from ever holding a position in law enforcement again. I can only imagine what
incidents have gone unreported and ignored by your department and, subsequently, what
further actions could have transpired if this young woman was not recording. Citizens should
not need a camera to protect themselves from your officers.

"My car was stolen on Tuesday 8/29/23. I called 911 and was met by an officer who
helped me file a report. Case number 232411307. I was told the case would be assigned
to a detective. I was told I would be contacted if the vehicle was recovered. On Thursday
8/31, I was contacted by my insurance adjuster who informed me that my vehicle had
been recovered on Wednesday 8/30 around 7 pm. I had no missed calls, texts,
voicemails, or communication whatsoever from APD. Also, there was a witness to the
crime and the apartment recovered some video footage, so there seems to be some
chance of finding the culprits. However, my apartments have a policy of only releasing
footage to the police. How do I get a detective to take an interest and communicate with
me in an attempt to catch these car thieves and possibly prevent future vehicle thefts?"

Complaint:
"On Saturday evening Sept 2/early Sunday morning Sept 3, my son,
, and
his friend
, were watching anime on television at my home and partaking in
marijuana. My son had an adverse reaction to the marijuana and started exhibiting extreme
paranoia. Initially, I tried calling the nurses line at Aetna to seek medical advice. My son wouldn't
let me make the call. He is 19 and I am 62. I then tried to call 911 for EMS, not for the police.
Again,
did not want me calling 911.
had been picked up by his parents and was calling to check on his friend. I asked his father,
if he could call 911, again with the stress that we were calling for EMS for help with
my son who was having an adverse drug reaction..
Both EMS and APD a
APD since I was having difficulty getting my son to
accept an EMS call that APD comes to assist. Four police officers entered my home. For several
minutes, the interactions were relatively friendly. However,
was in an altered state and
was making efforts to leave: once out the backdoor and twice through the garage. At no time was
ever violent. In fact, he was relatively polite throughout the whole incident. He was
simply paranoid and was trying to escape the situation.
On
's fourth attempt to leave, the physically largest police officer grabbed his arm. As
pulled away, the offficer tackled him. Then, three other officers joined, one holding his
legs, a second holding his arms, and the third helping the strong officer (with tattoos) in putting
on handcuffs.
The strong officer got on
's back and applied what I would categorize as excessive
force. I took
to the emergency center the following day and he has a bruised clavicle
from this incident, plus other scrapes.
I feel this was handled very poorly.
First, this incident occurred at my home. Neither young man was out driving or in any fashion
disturbing the peace. They were inside their home, watching Japanese anime ,and smoking
marijuana.

Second, my son was having an adverse reaction to what he smoked. I did not make the 911 call
but I am confident
relayed that information to 911.
Third, we clearly were asking for EMS, not APD. If the City of Austin has a policy to have APD
accompany EMS scene, I understand that. However, no EMS personnel came to see my son. It was
all APD. Had even one EMS person come into my house instead of it being all APD, I thinlk there
would have been a different dynamic. My altered, paranoid son would have reacted better to
medical personnel than law enforcement officers.
Fourth, I want to state this clearly. My son was trying to escape. He was not trying to fight. He was
scared and he was holding my hand, but he was clearly paranoid and didn't want to be in the
presence of law enforcement.
Fifth, the way APD ta
d him and put a knee in his back was emblematic of George Floyd. It was
not what I would have expected at all from a call for EMS for a medical emergency.
I am deeply disturbed by what happened at my house. At bare minimum the one officer (the
visibly strongest man with tattoos) used excessive force in a situation that called for compassion
and medical intervention. I've read many stories in the newspaper how police officers around the
country escalate medical situations into confrontations with bad results. I feel I observed that
first hand in my house.

APD has been in possession of my property for nearly a year now. I have made several
unsuccessful attempts to retrieve my property from the APD Evidence Division. I've made
several calls and left voicemails that have not been returned. I made a trip to the office but was
not allowed access without an appointment which one has to call to get TIN but there is never a live
person who answers the phone and they have not returned any of my calls.

Complaint:
I am appalled by the Detective I spoke with today. He was very rude and talked down to me
concerning some complaints I have filed against an ex. I have dealt with this ex being sexually,
physically abusive towards me, and have dealt with him stalking me and spreading my nudes as
a way to convince people that I "deserved it." I have texts that show all his claims are lies and
taken completely out of context. If anything, my exes claims only show an ongoing pattern of him
sexually violating me.
I find it extremely weird that the department is refusing to investigate his text to me, admitting
his crime, saying "trust me there are others."
My character has been fully vetted and I have a security clearance. My ex has multiple felonies,
and animal cruelty on his record. His character has already been judged and society decided
he"s not even allowed certain rights.
I find it appalling the Detective would identify so much with a felon and his continued sexual
violations against me and decided to join the felon in talking down to me as if none of my
concerns were valid.
He refused to transfer me to another officer and hung up on me.
I am filing a complaint because I believe this officer has shown clear warning signs and is at risk
for misconduct. I believe he relates to the sexually and physically abusive felon in a very
unhealthy manner.
I am hoping this Detective gets his character looked at closer given his inappropriate reaction
towards me after empathizing with a felon. And hoping there is better training for officers to
avoid further embarrassment for the department.

The complainant experienced a road rage incident with a man, then saw the viral video the man
having a road rage incident with someone in Garland TX. She recognized him as the same person
who did it to her. She then felt she should report it.
The complainant was driving on 1626 from Buda to Brodie Ln to pick her son up from school.
There were two lanes, in the left lane there was a car, in the right lane there was black land rover
she was going to pass on the left. When she got behind, he wouldn"t let her pass. He then leaned
out the window with his drink and hit his breaks. He threw the drink out onto the complainant"s
car. She got out from behind him, and he gave her the middle finger and told her she"s a stupid
fucking bitch and yelled fuck you. After that, she yelled back, and he swerved into her lane to hit
her and ran her into the median. After that, he drove away.
The complainant said he was very aggressive leaning out of his window screaming and cussing
at her. She is concerned knowing he is an APD officer and believes he has a bad anger problem,
which makes her nervous because he"s carrying a gun and badge. She is worried someone could
get hurt. She"s been a paramedic and is currently an ICU nurse. She is upset seeing this and
knowing it is not an isolated incident, she doesn"t believe he should be wearing a gun.
Vehicle Description:
The vehicle appeared to be a black Land Rover with a trump sticker 1836 in the top window, and a
Ukranian flag bumper sticker.

The complainant was walking on riverside Saturday night at the park. There were about 2-4
policeman having everyone stop as they were coming out of the park. One officer told him to
stop and said if he didn"t stop, he would get tazed. He was just walking to his car. The officers
handcuffed him. One of the officers said he was going to take the handcuffs off and the other
officer said to leave them on because he was going to jail anyways. They took his keys and wallet
out of his pockets. He knew he had one ticket and a misdemeanor, so one officer said he was
going to jail.
The complainant said he is 67 years old and he was just going to his car, and they towed his car.
He got out the next day at 10am and his car was gone. He doesn"t have any money to get his car
out of tow. One officer downtown said I don"t know why they brought you in here, they should
let you go home.
His car was parked on the side of the road, and he was just walking. The complainant said he saw
the officers stop about 6-7 other people coming out of the park and tell them to stop walking,
and the officers were wrong. One of the officers asked the complainant in the wrong way who
else is back there? When the complainant started talking, the officer told him to shut up. He"s 60
years old and doesn"t know why the officer had to talk to him like that.

The complainant was downtown riding his motorcycle with a friend. They pulled up on a gas
station on the corner. Right when they pulled up, they were still on their bikes. A police officer on
a loud mic and was asking everybody to leave the parking lot of the convenience store. The
complainant didn"t know why they were being asked to leave. The officer asked them if they
wanted their pretty bikes towed and to go to jail for not leaving the store. The complainant told
the officer that they just pulled up and were going to get something to eat. The officer told them
to leave the store and that they were trespassing. The complainant said he was not trespassing.
The officer sent a woman into the store to get the security guard to come point out the person
who was trespassing so he could take them to jail. The officer told the complainant not to move
and to give him his driver"s license. The woman didn"t know the complainant was with a friend
who was inside the store buying food and drinks. The woman went in the store and solicited the
security officer and asked him if he wanted this guy outside to go to jail for trespassing, but the
security guard didn"t know what they woman was talking about. The complainant's friend who
was in the store overheard this conversation between the security guard and the woman. He
heard her say, "yeah it"s the two guys on the motorcycles" The complainant's friend was white,
so they woman didn"t know that he was the complainant. The complainant's friend told the
woman and the security officer "I"m with the guy that"s outside". Then, the woman said" oh,
you"re with him?" Then another black guy came outside and the security guard asked that man
if the complainant was the one trespassing and the black guy said" yeah he"s trespassing". Then
the officer took the complainant"s license and information and told him he didn"t want him
back at this store for one year. The report the officer wrote is not correct. Report number 2023-

The complainant called police to come get a cat that scratched his baby. The complainant
doesn"t feel like he should have to live with an animal that hurt his baby. He was angry because
his baby had scratches all over his face, so he called the police and said, "If y"all don"t come get
this cat I"m going to kill it". The complainant stated he couldn"t kill it now because the cat had a
microchip with a neighbor"s name and address on it.
When the police showed up, the very first thing the officer said to the neighbor was "we have
people over here shooting each other over a fucking cat?" The complainant said he heard the
woman ask the police officer 3-4 times to leave her apartment. The complainant said that this
man had no right to be in her apartment, and that the officer kept refusing to leave. The
complainant stated that there was no warrant, so why was this man refusing to leave the
apartment. The complainant stated "that has to be unlawful, correct? Or can he just help himself
to somebody"s house cause he"s a police officer?" The complainant expressed that the officer
was very high strung. The complainant said he doesn"t understand how police are allowed to go
into someone"s house whenever they want to. He said, "They"re police officers and I guess they
can do whatever they want and that"s our issue."

The complainant called the police to help get him get back into his apartment after being locked
out by a person he"d argued with earlier in the evening.
One of the officers showed up and went in and out of his apartment multiple times without
permission after being asked not to go in. The complainant told the officer "Do not enter my
apartment, I don"t give you permission." The officer entered the apartment anyway, took a
statement from the person inside, and allowed the individual to take items while the officer told
the complainant to stand outside and wait.
The person inside the apartment told the officer she lived there, which she did not. The
complainant told the officer this and told the officer again that he did not have permission to
enter his apartment. The officer went in again and closed the door behind him. After the officer
removed the individual, the complainant realized they had allowed her to take some of his
belongings including a playstation.

Hello my name is
, I am formerly of Austin TX. I had a long history of officers or
the jail "misplacing" my property. Pretty much majority of the times I have been arrested in
Travis county, there were rights violated, and property missing afterwards. Primarily my cell
phones, I filed a report on a pair of true religion jeans that vanished from my property. As well as
a cell phone your officers left on the hood of the patrol car. However, I"ve lost multiple cell
phones and also my wallet containing my social and my only form of identification last time I
was incarcerated in Travis county, after an illegal sting operation to catch me with a weapon I
was permitted to carry by way of homeland security credentials.
Those being in my file if you look into it.
is my DL and credentials number. I
would like to be compensated for my time, money, and suffering. As well as every officer that has
been envolved in this literal tormenting being charged for the most serious crimes possible. The
ones which come to mind are theft, organized crime, possibly even R.E.C.O act infractions
I believe at this point it is your duty to proceed and charge to the fullest extent of the law.
I have been working with the F.B.I. as well as homeland security, so just to make sure you
understand the severity. You are being monitored at this point to properly proceed with this
information. By law these officers are actually going against the federal government, which
constitutes the definition of treason. Your agency and jurisdiction allowing these actions will
lead to a much bigger deal. I firmly believe that they were targeting me intentionally due to
criminal ties, I was investigating.

Greetings
OF
I want this forwarded to the police chief
I have never complained about the police until now
Time:
Tuesday 19 September 2023 around 8:15 to 8:20 PM
Location:
Intersection of US Highway 183 access road northbound
and Duval Road
AUSTIN
Action:
I was stopped for red lights in the left lane
when suddenly the lights turned green
and there was also a black and white SUV
Austin police vehicle approaching from behind
running code 3 / hot
It was very dark and I couldn"t tell which lane
the police vehicle was in until he / she was right on my rear
really laying on his / her phaser which I know is probably automated
He / she got so close to me I thought he / she was going to run me off the road
As I turned left to clear his / her path he /she seemed to even follow me
into the turn to maximize his / her intimidation before breaking off
and proceeding north
NDED
My impression was one of a police officer
using unnecessary intimidation / aggressiveness / bullying
or whatever you wish to call it
It was too dark to see the driver, license plate, or other identifying number
For an unbiased version of what happened kindly check his / her camera
As a City of Austin taxpayer I would appreciate something more than
a canned / cookie cutter response as we citizens don"t want
overly aggressive peace officers like this
Thanks

The complainant was in an accident with a truck driver at the intersection of Webberville Rd and
MLK at a stop light. A constable showed up first, but because the accident involved a commercial
vehicle, he had to call APD.
When the APD officer showed up, he did not acknowledge anyone involved in the accident. The
way he could not say hello to anyone was off-putting and he continued with that demeanor the
whole time.
After the investigation, the officer gave the complainant the insurance information and business
address of the other driver involved but then gave the complainant"s home address to the other
driver involved. The officer also informed the complainant that the right lane that she was
turning from was a bike lane and not a turn lane, which was wrong. The officer failed to assess

THERE ARE 2 INCIDENTS. It was 2018 and 2019. I called for an officer at the 7 eleven on
congress about 2am in the morning. The officers arrive. (I" m sitting down on the curb in front of
store in compliance, no threat) The call was a safety issue I was having with my surroundings.
When the officer got there he opened his door and stood there on the phone smiling at me
briefly.
I then start to blackout, I thought I saw another officer before I blacked out all the way. I wake up
in an ambulance backing up to a brown brick building with a 10 ft barbed wired fence. I blackout
again and wake up in what seems to me to be the back entrance to the medical wing in jail. The
guard to the rear entrance was sitting down in front of the door with no expression on his face I
then proceeded to tell the officer that I would like to leave and where was the bus stop located. I
was scared for my life but wasn"t aggressive. (I was being abducted because no crime was
committed. )He didn"t answer me so I turned around and there was a man about 5"3" tall black
short cut wavey hair holding a syringe. That had a brown substance in it. He proceeded to grab
my arm and inject me with it. I blacked out once again and when I came to I was at 4th and
lavaca bus stop. It was about 6:30 in the morning. There is another incident that happened also.
Ever since that day I have been getting physically raped and Btk"d by the devil,Satan and all the
principalities.

Complaint:
Her son who suffers from schizophrenia and drug addiction, got violent with an employee of a
store he was in. The police came but did not take him in on a 3 day hold even though he met the
requirements for it. He is homeless and has a record of assault misdemeanor 1. The police failed
to recognize his mental illness and he did not receive the help he needed. A week later, her son
trespassed on one of her north Austin properties. The police were called and came late. They
spoke with her son and let him go again.
This week, on Monday 9/25 he verbally attacked her. He was in a violent rage, caused
destruction to the hotel he was staying in and screamed at the lady who worked at the hotel. The
police came and let him go again.
Last night, her son was arrested downtown for assault. That is what the complainant was
worried about and that is why she is complaining. The police failed to take a well-documented
schizophrenic in in order to avoid danger to himself and others.

On September 22nd the complainant was sent an email response which said, "Sorry for the

The complainant was upset that it had taken so long for APD to respond to her email. She felt like
her concerns and her family"s concerns regarding her homeless schizophrenic mother didn"t

Complaint:
I just wanted to make you aware that you have officers from your agency, officers with 31 years
of experience according to him, who are actively hindering the apprehension of criminals. We
were conducting an investigation to apprehend a female wanted out of Hays County on 2 felony
warrants. During the surveillance, a pick up truck was used to distract us and then possibly
extract the female from the house after dark. That truck came back to a man who was later
determined to be Austin PD. During surveillance of his home, we identified the female who had
gotten out of the truck to assist our target. When we called the APD officer to gain assistance and
inform him of what had happened, he stated that the female we identified was his step daughter
(who also has multiple warrants out of Hays County). He claimed he didn"t need these problems
because of his position with APD. He was made aware that his step daughter was at his house
and his vehicle was used to possible hinder apprehension and instead of assisting us, he called
the local city police on us to run us from doing surveillance on his home. I was a law
enforcement officer for 22 years, assigned as a TFO with Homeland Security Investigations. It is
sad that a 31 year veteran officer, instead of assisting in cooperating with the apprehension of a
wanted felon, harbors his step daughter who is wanted and hindered us from doing our job.
Response to request for more information:
To be honest, I am uncomfortable with reporting which officer and where it occurred. We have
had a hard enough time dealing with law enforcement in Travis County while we are working, to
the point where they refuse to even take an aggravated assault report where one of my
investigators was a victim and a fugitive thrusted a steak knife at his stomach, missing him by
about 2 inches because, "we were told by the Sergeant not to get involved in this." The last thing
I want is for APD officers to start actively coming after us while we do our job because we
reported one of their own. I was just making you aware you have an issue with an officer
harboring wanted fugitives and hindering in one of the rural areas in a county adjacent to Travis.
If he were an honorable officer of 31 years with APD, he wouldn"t be harboring his step
daughter who is wanted by Hays County, having his step daughter use his truck to extract
another wanted felon, and then making our job more difficult by trying to use a small local
agency to run us off instead of doing what an honorable officer would have done.

During the duration of this altercation,
Officer John Hattaway had at least one

subjecting the

driver along with endangerment of the child's life by his reckless swerving and attempt to strike
the victim's vehicle.
Citizens should
not need a camera to protect themselves from your officers.

not have permission to be inside her home.

"The complainant was driving down an alley next to her house when she was getting
ready to turn around, she stopped the vehicle to get something that had fallen onto the
floorboard. The complainant stated she hadn't done anything illegal.
The complainant saw an officer drive by and expected him to waive her on. When he didn't
gesture or stop her, she proceeded turn around and park in her parking spot. As she walked up to
her door, the officer followed her to the door. He told the complainant that her plates didn't look
like they belonged on her car and continued to harass her. The complainant believed that the
officer profiled her car because of its damaged appearance. The complainant stated that the
officer had no reason to run her plates, and no right to follow her to her door. When the officer
saw her put her code in to open her front door, he left. The complainant stated she was being
harassed and profiled based on the appearance of her vehicle and that she did nothing illegal."

He doesn"t have any money to get his car
out of tow. One officer downtown said I don"t know why they brought you in here, they should
let you go home.

Then

When the police showed up, the very first thing the officer said to the neighbor was "we have

As a City of Austin taxpayer I would appreciate something more than
a canned / cookie cutter response as we citizens don"t want
overly aggressive peace officers like this
Thanks

Complaint:
The officer failed to assess
the entire situation.

An officer driving unit #7799 swung into a parking space next to the complainant almost hitting
the complainant"s car, and then was rude and raised his hands up at the complainant. The
complainant didn"t appreciate that because he wasn"t doing anything STIN wrong. For him to raise
his hands up like that upset the complainant.

My fiance had a seizure while he was driving on the ramp to enter 183 N. His tire was blown out
and the officer told me it would be towed and that my insurance would cover it. When we went
to pick up his truck to get it fix, they told us it was impounded by APD STIN and we had to lay $600
instead of the $200 we were planning for.

I lost my self identity 10000 of thousands of times. I"m a god fearing citizen that was baptized in
the name of the father, son and holy Spirit. I know this kinda old but I can seem to get out of it.
