Improvements include faster access, simpler navigation, and a more user-friendly appearance
On March 19, 2026, the City of Austin will launch a new website with a modern look and better functionality. Visitors to AustinTexas.gov will be able to quickly find information and City services.
The new website is part of the City’s new digital experience platform, providing significant improvements to the City’s digital services. Visitors to the site will find a cleaner page structure, more intuitive navigation and search, and improved user experience. Additionally, the website is fully responsive for visitors to navigate the site easily, whether on a desktop, laptop, tablet or mobile device.
“The launch of the new and improved AustinTexas.Gov has been a long time coming, and I am proud to say that the City of Austin website is now the most efficient place to connect Austinites with the information and resources they need,” said City Manager T.C. Broadnax. “We have worked hard to make everything on the site easier to find and navigate – whether that’s adopting your next pet, viewing your recycling schedule or paying your utility bill.”
The new platform supports a modern website design with consistent style from department to department while ensuring high accessibility standards to serve all Austinites. For those who need detailed information on a particular program, service or department, AustinTexas.gov updated its search capabilities by adding filtering options and better indexing and functions to return more accurate results.
Community feedback gathered in the initial planning phases of the design helped guide the new site features and improved user experience. In the upcoming weeks, the City will welcome additional feedback by prompting site visitors to complete a short survey. This feedback will help inform ongoing improvements and enhancements to the website, allowing it to continue evolving to meet the needs of Austin.
The new site is expected to go live at 8 a.m. Thursday. While a smooth transition is expected, if there are any problems during the switch, AustinTexas.gov will revert to the current site while any issues are resolved.
