Austin was happy to host a successful first weekend of the ACL music festival and we are looking forward to another great weekend. When making your travel plans for next weekend please plan ahead for a safe ride home. There are many transportation options available from the shuttle service, CAP Metro, rideshare options and many parking lots. Be patient with each other on the roadway and be prepared for some delays with the large crowd and increase traffic demands.
The following numbers are from the ACL No Refusal Initiative that was conducted by the Austin Police Department from September 30 thru October 4. During the operational time periods, there were 33 DWI related arrests made:
Total DWI arrests during No Refusal period = 33
Blood Search Warrants: 15
Consent Breath Samples: 9
Consent Blood Samples: 9
Of those arrests, the following number had enhanced DWI charges:
Consent Breath Samples over .15= 5
Class A Misd DWI (with prior conviction) = 2
Felony DWI (2 or more prior convictions) = 5
Felony DWI Child Passenger = 1
Of the 33 Arrests made during the No Refusal Period, over 80 percent of them started as 911 calls for service which included 15 collisions.

The Department is dedicated to making the roadways and waterways of Austin safe for residents and visitors through education and enforcement.
