On June 30, 2022, the OPO received a phone complaint.
The complainant alleges: She is totally supportive of APD and does not believe in
defunding, but she is very upset with the lack of response from APD. If APD continues to
let vandalism happen and does not make changes every person in the community is going
to be upset because nothing is being done to protect the people. She was told by two people
that live in the neighborhood that her car is the 4th car that has been vandalized in the past
week. Someone should be able to look at the activity and realize there is continuous
vandalism in that specific area. Her car was vandalized, and things were stolen. 911 said
it was not an emergency and to report it to 311. She reported it to 311 and was told she
would get a response from APD in 12 hours but that did not happen. She has had to call
311 three times and file a report. The last 311 operator told her a detective would not call
her back but would only look at the report to see if they can do anything and if the detective
cannot do anything she would receive a letter, but she could not give her a timeframe. She
spoke to parks and recreation, and they gave her a non-working number to call. She wants
a call back because she wants to know what is going to be done, even if it is nothing.
This notice of complaint is a request for Internal Affairs to initiate an investigation to
determine if the employee conduct is within compliance of APD policy, Civil Service
Rules, and Municipal Civil Service Rules.
