UPDATE: The Comprehensive Plan Committee of the Planning Commission will meet Jan. 14. 2016, instead of Jan. 7, 2016. The meeting will begin 6 p.m. at One Texas Center, Room 500. For more detailed location information, please see below.

The City of Austin is now in the process of updating its Long-Range Capital Improvement Program Strategic Plan. This plan, updated annually, helps achieve the Imagine Austin vision through the City’s Capital Improvement Program.

Ths City's Capital Planning Office updates the Long-Range CIP Strategic Plan by working with City departments to gather information about their long-term, ongoing, and strategic capital program needs. In doing so, the Long-Range CIP Strategic Plan is central source for information on citywide capital needs and facilitates internal as well as external coordination, transparency, and future funding opportunities.

Additionally, the Planning Commission is required by City Charter to make a recommendation to the City Manager each year about projects necessary or desirable to implement the comprehensive plan, Imagine Austin. The Long-Range CIP Strategic Plan supports the Commission in making its recommendation, which usually takes the form of a letter that is included in the final plan. The plan is published online in the spring, and a hard copy is also available at the Austin Public Library's Faulk Central Library.

The Planning Commission’s Committee on the Comprehensive Plan is responsible for reviewing the FY 2016-17 Long-Range CIP Strategic Plan and bringing recommendations to the full Planning Commission.
