What happens to your HHW?
Once your HHW is collected, it is taken to the Recycle and Reuse Drop-off Center where it undergoes proper disposal or recycling. Materials such as paint, solvents and chemicals are carefully processed in a way that minimizes harm to the environment. Batteries are dismantled and recycled, with valuable materials being reclaimed and repurposed.
HHW items that are in good, usable condition are set out in the Reuse Store for community members to pick up at no cost. You may find art supplies, cleaning products and household chemicals at the store. Paint is also available. Austin ReBlend is a 100 percent post-consumer, reblended flat paint. Appointments are required to pick up these items from the center.
