Budget and Organizational Excellence (BOE) supports the development and monitoring of the City’s annual operating budget and Capital Improvement Program, coordinating the creation of Austin’s citywide strategic plan, and aligning strategic priorities with operational efforts. Additionally, we develop and maintain community-focused reporting tools and dashboards that strengthen transparency in the City's operating and capital budgets, strategic planning, and performance management.

The Budget division leads the development, coordination, and monitoring of the City’s annual Operating Budget and Capital Improvement Program (CIP) Plan. Through collaborative planning with departments and city leadership, the team ensures resources are allocated strategically and provides transparent financial information that supports community priorities.

The Performance and Innovation division guides the creation and implementation of Austin’s citywide strategic plan and drives a culture of innovation across the organization. The team develops and maintains performance measurement standards, aligns strategy with operations, and delivers internal consulting services to departments focused on improving outcomes through innovation, collaboration, and evidence-based decision-making.
- Data Analytics, Training & Administration

The DATA division strengthens the City's capacity to make data-informed decisions by advancing data literacy, developing actionable analyses, and promoting transparency through interactive dashboards and reports. With a strong emphasis on user-centered design, the team helps ensure both internal stakeholders and the community have access to clear, reliable data that informs budgeting, performance, and innovation. The division also supports City departments without dedicated financial staff by assisting with the preparation of their annual budgets, procurement processes, and accounting needs.
