The APD Domestic Violence Unit improves access to law enforcement, counseling, crisis management, and legal services for survivors of domestic violence and their children, and is a collaborative, community response to family and dating violence. We hope to increase batterer accountability, empower survivors to lead violence-free lives, and lead the community's zero-tolerance policy toward family and dating violence.

APD Domestic Violence Awareness Session

The Austin Police Department’s (APD) Domestic Violence Unit hosted an interactive session on June 3, 2025, at the Austin Public Library, Ruiz Branch, 1600 Grove Blvd., to discuss all aspects of domestic violence. During the session, expert panelists from APD’s Domestic Violence Unit, APD Victim Services, Stop Abuse for Everyone (SAFE) Safe Alliance, and the Mexican Consulate in Austin held a question-and-answer session. You can watch the replay of the session below.
