The Land Use and Real Estate Division provides advice and counsel to specific City departments including Planning and Zoning, Development Services, Watershed Protection, Real Estate Services, Austin Water-Wildlands Conservation Division, and Public Works Capital Contracting Office, as well as support for the Parks and Recreation Department.

The attorneys provide legal advice, legislative drafting, transactional and contractual assistance on issues relating to real estate, zoning, land development, environmental protection, and endangered species. The Division provides the support for the Zoning and Platting Commission, Planning Commission, Board of Adjustment, and Environmental Commission, among others.

Trish Link is the Land Use and Real Estate Division Chief. Trish started with the City of Austin Law Department in 2005 as a municipal court prosecutor and since that time has worked in the Litigation, Land Use and Real Estate, General Counsel, and Municipal Operations divisions. She was designated an International Municipal Lawyers Association (IMLA) Fellow in 2020.
