Improved Floodplain Review Process for Building Permits

A Message from Austin Watershed Protection

Floodplain Review has become part of Commercial Plan Review to ensure FEMA construction certificate requirements from the approved Site Plan are correctly linked to the building permit. Floodplain Reviewers are also able to place and release Administrative Holds during Residential and Commercial Plan Review when FEMA certificates are required. If a hold is placed, the General Contractor, Owner, Applicant, and Engineer/Architect will receive an email once the Building Permit is active. The email will list which documents must be uploaded before Final Inspection. There are no new fees for this review. Questions? Contact Floodpro@austintexas.gov or 512‑974‑2843.
