This ribbon cutting celebrates the completion of new amenities and drainage improvements at the East Williamson Creek Greenbelt. The greenbelt includes areas where flood-prone homes were bought by the City of Austin and converted to open space decades ago. Two projects have added new trails, a nature play area for kids, benches and picnic tables, and new formal greenbelt entryway, alongside critical upgrades to the storm drain system to reduce neighborhood flood risk.
