Plumbing Program
Helping to fix plumbing issues related to public health, safety, and water savings.
Assisting eligible homeowners with plumbing repairs and water savings. Eligible repairs include: toilets, showers, plumbing, sinks, and faucets. The City will provide up to $15,000 in grant funds for home repairs.
The Plumbing Program provides home repairs at no cost to eligible households. The City will provide up to $15,000 in grant funds for eligible repairs. Eligible homeowners do not need to pay for any of the grant-approved repairs. Some eligible repairs include:
- toilets
- showers
- lavatory
- plumbing
- sinks, faucets, drains, tubs,
- shower plumbing (install new diverter valves)
- water heater install
- Ground Fault Circuit Interrupters (GFCI) install
- water service lateral replacement in the front yard
- P-traps
- anti-siphon devices

Who is Eligible?
Austin homeowners living within Austin’s full-purpose city limits. The property must be:
- a single-family home or duplex.
- the Applicant’s principal place of residence.
- an Austin Water customer
Austinites must have a gross annual income at or below 100% Austin Median Family Income (MFI). The table below shows the income limits by number of persons living in the home.

For example: a 4-person household would need to earn an annual income of $133,800 or less to qualify.

- If you are eligible, complete and submit the new short and easy-to-use online Home Repairs Request More Information form (available in English and Spanish).
- You will be contacted about the next steps.
- Construction scheduling varies based on need, project size, and repairs needed.

The above partners are contracted to:
- respond to client requests for repairs;
- verify client eligibility;
- develop specifications for repairs;
- facilitate repairs;
- hire licensed contractors and other skilled tradespersons;
- provide quality assurance for the work performed, and
- make referrals to other City-funded home repair programs.
Funding is provided by Austin Water. Austin Housing Finance Corporation oversees the contracts with Non-Profit Organizations.
