On Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 11:12 p.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a burglary call in the 900 block of West 21st Street. Visitors from El Paso, Texas, who were staying at an Airbnb in the West Campus area, returned to their rental and discovered suspects inside stealing their belongings. The suspects fled the location in a vehicle.
The victims tracked one of their stolen items to the 900 block of West 21st Street. Officers responded, reviewed nearby security footage, and located the suspect vehicle parked in the area. The suspects were not present, and the vehicle was towed. A short time later, a neighbor observed the suspects return and contacted police. Officers returned to the scene and detained two burglary suspects, along with a third individual who had arrived to pick them up.
While detaining the suspects, officers were informed of a possible female overdose victim inside the residence. Officers conducted a welfare check and located a woman inside who was going in and out of consciousness. Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services (ATCEMS) transported her to a nearby hospital. The female victim made statements saying she had been sexually assaulted and drugged.
During the welfare check, officers also observed items consistent with drug production, as well as restraints and other materials corroborating the victim’s statements. Due to potential hazards, officers exited the apartment and secured the scene.
The resident of the apartment returned a short time later and was also detained. Detectives from the Burglary, Sex Crimes, and Narcotics units, along with APD’s Clandestine Lab Team (DEA Task Force), responded to the scene to continue the investigation.
The arrested individuals include:
Octavius Jackson, Black male, 36 years of age
Possession of a Controlled Substance, Warrant for Possession of a Controlled Substance
Latasha Fletcher, White female, 36 years of age
Possession of a Controlled Substance, Burglary of Residence
Calvin Guyton, Black male, 32 years of age
Burglary of Residence
James Sailors, White male, 40 years of age
Unlawful Possession of Firearm by Felon, Manufacture or Delivery of a Controlled Substance
This complex case involved significant collaboration across APD units, including Patrol, Burglary, Sex Crimes, Narcotics, and the DEA Task Force, and their coordinated efforts ensured the swift detention of suspects and the protection of the victim.
