The Austin Police Department (APD) Sex Crimes Unit requests the public's help in identifying a person of interest, whose photos and description are included below, in a case involving Attempted Sexual Assault.
 
On Monday, August 26, 2024, around 12:30 a.m., a person of interest was observed inside a convenience store at the intersection of Payton Gin Road and North Lamar Boulevard. The victim was walking on the sidewalk of Payton Gin Road when she was approached by an unknown suspect. The suspect attempted to engage in a conversation with the victim, but she continued walking. The suspect caught up to the victim, grabbed her from behind, threw her on the ground, and attempted to sexually assault her.
 
Detectives have exhausted all other options in attempting to identify the person of interest, whose description and photos are included below, and now ask the community for assistance in identifying him. 

The person of interest is described as:
•    Hispanic male (Honduran)
•    Approximately 5’7”
•    Dark complexion
•    Heavy build
•    130-140 pounds
•    Medium length, curly, black hair
 
The person of interest was last seen wearing:
•    Green shirt with a logo in the front, letters “PARTICIPANT” on the back
•    Light brown cargo style shorts
