Building Austin

Communities are invited to engage with project teams and learn about upcoming improvements.

The City of Austin Capital Delivery Services (CDS) invites the community to the second “Building Austin” event, part of an ongoing series focused on informing residents about infrastructure projects that will impact Austin’s growth and development. This event, taking place on Thursday, Nov. 7, 2024, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Dove Springs Public Health Facility (5811 Palo Blanco Lane), will focus on projects in Southeast Austin, with a spotlight on significant transportation and flood risk reduction initiatives.

Building Austin: Engaging Southeast Austin Communities
The November session will provide updates on five infrastructure projects designed to improve safety, mobility, and public health in Southeast Austin. Featured projects include:

  • Brassiewood Local Flood Risk Reduction (Phase 1) - 2018 bond project
  • Dove Springs Public Health Facility - 2018 bond project
  • Slaughter Lane Corridor Improvements - 2016 bond project
  • William Cannon Drive Corridor Improvements - 2016 bond project
  • Williamson Creek Wastewater Interceptor

Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about each project during brief presentations and then participate in an open house to meet project teams and ask questions.

The event will also be available in a hybrid format via Zoom, CDS will ensure that community members receive follow-up with confirmed responses from project teams after the event.

A Commitment to Austin’s Growth

CDS manages more than $10 billion in construction projects that support Austin’s evolving needs. These efforts include mobility improvements, building public health facilities, reducing flood risks, and upgrading essential city infrastructure. The “Building Austin” series provides a platform for community engagement, fostering dialogue about these developments and how they benefit residents across the city.

The event is open to the public, and residents are encouraged to attend, interact with City staff, and learn about how these projects are advancing Austin’s infrastructure for future generations.
