Austin, TX – The City of Austin announces public hearings and a 30-day public comment period to receive public input on the FY 2022-23 draft Action Plan. Austinites that wish to provide public comment on the draft action plan may do so starting Tuesday, May 3, 2022, through Friday, June 10, 2022.
The Action Plan outlines funding allocations and service goals for federally funded programs related to affordable housing, community development, homelessness services, public services, and economic development activities. These activities are funded primarily through four grant programs received from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD): Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), HOME Investment Partnerships (HOME), Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG), and Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA).
View the draft FY 22-23 Action Plan on the City’s HUD funding webpage or on the SpeakUp Austin website.
During the 2022-23 Action Plan Community Needs Assessment, public input was received and considered through public hearings before Austin City Council and the Community Development Commission, through a SpeakUp Austin website, and through various commission meetings. Additional feedback and input opportunities through the Housing and Planning Department’s (HPD’s) main phone line and postal mail were offered to the community as sources for providing input as well.
The public comment period is in accordance with the City of Austin’s Citizen Participation Plan as amended, and with HUD program waivers of certain regulatory requirements to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. The City is making every effort to continue the community input process while observing social distancing protocols during COVID-19.
