Jesús Aguirre

Join the New Parks and Recreation Director for a Community Listening Session

Join Austin Parks and Recreation Director, Jesús Aguirre, on Tuesday, March 11 at 6 p.m. for a Community Listening Session at the Northwest Recreation Center, 2913 Northland Dr. Director Aguirre invites community members to share their thoughts and perspectives on what the Austin Parks and Recreation does well and what opportunities there are for improvement. Attendees will learn about the Department’s operations, Director Aguirre’s values and priorities, and be able to share their thoughts with the Director. For more information about this and future Community Listening Sessions, please visit austintexas.gov/PARDlistening.

With over 25 years of experience in public parks, nonprofit leadership, and public education, Jesús Aguirre was recently selected as the new Director for Austin Parks and Recreation. Director Aguirre brings a wealth of expertise to Austin having previously led parks and recreation departments in Washington, D.C. and Seattle, where he developed innovative strategic visions and achieved notable successes in both cities. Most recently, Director Aguirre served as CEO of Waterloo Greenway, a nonprofit organization responsible for a 35-acre urban park system in downtown Austin.
