On Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at approximately 4:11 p.m., Austin Police Officers (APD) responded to reports of a deceased person at 1907 Pennsylvania Avenue. The caller was delivering a package when they located a man on the ground who was bleeding. When officers arrived on the scene, they located a male on the ground, later identified as Jon Nickowski, with trauma to his body and a firearm next to him. Officers also located a female within the residence, later identified as Kimberly Sullivan, who appeared to have been shot multiple times. Both Nickowski and Sullivan were pronounced deceased at 4:29 p.m.
Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Specialists responded to process the scene and interview witnesses. The investigation revealed that Nickowski had shot and killed Sullivan before shooting himself. Additional findings showed that the two had been in a dating relationship for several years.
