Arrested: Douglas Clyde, Black male, 17 years of age
On Friday, August 8, 2025, at approximately 6:46 p.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a call that reported a shooting at 2609 Rosewood Avenue. Officers arrived and located a male, later identified as Michael Atwood, in an apartment with an apparent gunshot wound. Austin Travis County Emergency Medical Services (ATCEMS) attempted life saving measures but Atwood was pronounced deceased at 7:08 p.m.
Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Specialists responded to process the scene and interview witnesses. The preliminary investigation revealed that a juvenile girl was with her current boyfriend, Douglas Clyde. Clyde saw the female’s ex-boyfriend, Michael Atwood, and shot and killed him. Clyde then left the area.
On August 9, 2025, an arrest warrant for First Degree Murder was issued for Clyde. On August 11, 2025, the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force/Tactical Intelligence Unit located and arrested Clyde in Manor, Texas for the warrant.
