Two modern townhouse buildings face each other across a concrete driveway, with a leafless tree centered between them under a clear blue sky.

District 3 community brings 12 new townhomes, offering homeownership opportunities in the Govalle neighborhood

AUSTIN, TX – Austin Housing and the Austin Housing Finance Corporation (AHFC) celebrate the opening of Mira, a new mixed-income, missing-middle townhome community. Located in District 3 at 732 Springdale Road, the development offers 12 three-story duplex townhomes, two of which will be four-bedroom homes reserved for households earning at or below 65% Median Family Income (MFI). Additional information about purchasing a home at Mira is available online at www.miraaustin.com.

“Mira reflects the power of collaboration in addressing our community’s need for deeply affordable housing – especially for those seeking long-term stability and opportunity,” explains Deletta Dean, Director for the Austin Housing Department. “This development expands homeownership options and advances equity in a meaningful way.”

Mira is located in the Govalle neighborhood and offers 2-, 3-, and 4-bedroom homes with up to 3.5 bathrooms and two-car garage options. All homes range in size from 1,742 to 2,147 square feet. AHFC executed a loan agreement of $240,000 in 2018 General Obligation (GO) Bonds to fund the construction of the two four-bedroom homes. The development also utilized the City’s S.M.A.R.T. Housing Program.

“Mira was shaped by what the community told us they needed: homes that work for families of all sizes, including larger four-bedroom homes that are hard to find in Austin today,” said Anmol Mehra, Owner of Aus/Bos Social Housing. “Through collaborative development — combining public investment and thoughtful infill design — we’ve broadened access to homeownership and created family-sized homes that give families room to grow and stay rooted in Govalle.”

The development was led by Aus/Bos Social Housing and managed by HomeBase, a non-profit affiliate of Austin Habitat for Humanity. The property was designed by Austin-based architecture firm Plural Office and developed by Pecan Valley Homes, a local residential builder. The development gained letters of support from the Govalle Neighborhood Association and Springdale General. Offering a fresh take on mid-century design, the homes pair modern gables and warm brick with interiors defined by an earthy, refined palette.

“At HomeBase, we’ve seen firsthand how life‑changing access to affordable homeownership can be for Austin families,” said Juana Palacios, Vice President & Broker at HomeBase Texas. “Mira represents exactly the kind of thoughtful, community‑centered development our city needs—homes that are attainable, well‑designed, and built to support long‑term stability. We’re thrilled to help families navigate the path to homeownership here and proud to be part of a project that expands opportunity in the Govalle neighborhood.”
