Arrested:  Markell D Turner, Black male, 33 years of age

On Sunday, July 27, 2025, at approximately 8:35 p.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a Disturbance Hotshot call involving a collision at 12333 N Lamar Blvd. When officers arrived, they discovered a pedestrian had been struck during the incident. The pedestrian later identified as Ismal Mossaad was pronounced deceased at the scene. A total of three arrests were made in connection with the collision. The driver of one of the vehicles, a male juvenile, was charged with Aggravated Assault with Deadly Weapon. The driver of the second vehicle, Markell Turner is facing charges of Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) and his passenger, Jarina Robinson, faces charges of Posession of Controlled Substances/Narcotics. 

This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 55th fatal crash of 2025, resulting in 59 fatalities. On the date of this crash in 2024, 44 fatal crashes resulted in 47 deaths.
