On Saturday, August 2, 2025, at approximately 12:32 a.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian in the 2000 block of Airport Boulevard. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital and, days later, on August 16, 2025, was pronounced deceased at 4:02 p.m. The pedestrian has been identified as Javar R. Quinton.

This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 63rd fatal crash of 2025, resulting in 67 fatalities. On the date of this crash in 2024, 48 fatal crashes resulted in 51 deaths. These statements are from the initial assessment of the fatal crash, and the investigation is still pending. Fatality information may change.
